cute pug puppy enjoys dog biscuit

Yes, you heard correctly, February 23 is International Dog Biscuit Appreciation Day! While we’re unsure as to who comes up with these special days, we know that the web has an abundance of really great homemade dog biscuit ideas.

Our Pinterest board “DIY” has many ideas for pet related do-it-yourself projects. I found the following recipe on the Whole Foods website. These biscuits took me about 15 minutes to make (not including cook time). While these biscuits look like oatmeal cookies you can be as elaborate and fun as you want and use cookie cutters or package these dog biscuits for presents. Enjoy the recipe!

Preheat oven to 300 degrees

  • 1 banana, peeledplacing biscuit dough on cookie sheet
  • 1 cup oat flour (I used 1/2c wheat germ and 1/2c all purpose flour)
  • 2/3 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup dried parsley (I omitted this because I didn’t have any)
  • 3 tablespoons peanut butter
  • 1 egg, beaten

Mash the banana and then add the other ingredients (make sure to beat the egg before you add it). Stir well and then form the batter into flat round cakes. Place on cookie sheet and bake at 300 for 40-45 minutes until golden brown.
