2013 Annual Charity Event: September 29th
A Pirate’s Poem and Event details…AAARRRGGGHHH!!!

Listen me mateys and ye shall hear,
Of a treasure hunt like yesteryear;
Twenty-nine September, Two Thousand Thirteen
A Corn-Dog Maze like ye have never seen,
Our pirate fund-raising event of the year!

Arrive by land, just south of Saline,
And ye at the ole Coleman Farm will be,
Ready for fun and a learning event,
Look for our buccaneers under the tent!

We says to our friends, “If ye have a heart
And desire a romp for a really good cause
Join us on Sunday–And dress the part
Bring Children! Win Prizes! Adopt some new paws!”

Face-painting for tots, wiener-bobs for the pups,
Feast on fine doughnuts and cider-filled cups,
Show your costumes, your courage, your g-p-s skills,
Find ye way thru the maze and climb some hay hills.

All we ask is your pooches come safe on a tether,
(Or borrow a foster-pup needing a home),
Join us in pirate gear, dress for the weather,
Help fund P.O.E.T. Rescue in spite of this poem!

Each year our doctors and staff with the help of our dedicated clients embrace a Charity Fundraiser, and this year we continue the tradition with a bit of a twist. Instead of the event being held at the hospital, we will be heading to Coleman’s Corn Maze in Saline for a swash-buckling good time!

This year’s event, affectionately being called the Corn “Dog” Maze will have activities for “kids of all ages” and dogs too! The entire event has a Pirate theme, so Mateys if ye feel so inclined to dress up (ye and/or ye dog) in Pirate attire, please do. We’ll even have a couple of contests related to costumes!

Other activities include a Musical Dog Sit contest, Dog Obstacle course, Pet Photographer, Dogs Bobbin’ for Wieners, Show us your Dog Trick, and Face Painting. We’ll also have a 50/50 Raffle and Silent Auction.

All of the “loot” from this year’s event will benefit P.O.E.T. Animal Rescue and the Fixed Income Family Fund. POET is also going to have adoptable puppies and dogs at the event!

Besides the contests and activities specifically related to the event, the Corn Maze has three Pirate themed routes (and there will be dog goodies in the maze). Ye can also pick apples, drink a goblet of cider, partake in some hot donuts, enjoy a hay ride or climb the hay bales.

Admission Tickets are $20 for an individual (and ye dog) or $35 for a family (and ye dog). Admission Tickets are available for advance sale at the Ann Arbor Animal Hospital. Included in the price of Admission is the Corn “Dog” Maze, as well as some of the Event activities. Some contests and activities will have a nominal “ticket” price of $1. Refreshments will also be for sale.

So, Pirates, plan to gather and help us raise some treasure for two worthy causes.
