Despite a windy and overcast start, the charity event finished strong with a great turnout on what became a beautiful, sunny day at Coleman’s Farm. People enjoyed various activities like the haystack climb, a silent auction, 50/50 raffle, face painting, photography, hay rides and of course, the corn maze. And, according to a highly scientific survey of the dogs in attendance, the unanimous favorite activity of that particular group was the dog park.
We all gorged on Coleman’s wonderful fresh hot donuts along with cider and other fare. Many attendees, both human and animal, wore costumes to celebrate this event!
Donut-glazed faces were painted with pumpkins, cats, dogs, snakes, spiders and batman masks. This event raised money for two great charities: the hospital’s fixed income family fund and POET Dog Rescue. Three dogs were adopted and now have new loving homes! We sincerely appreciate all the volunteers and donors who contributed their time and money to this event; it would not have been possible without them.
We have received a lot of feedback on this year’s event and are looking forward to planning next year’s with this knowledge in hand. One major change is that the Corn Maze Charity Event will be about a month earlier next year on 9/20/15, in the hopes that better weather (perhaps a few degrees warmer!) will be forecast.
