Periodontitis can cause the aforementioned bad breath, but if left unchecked can cause more serious issues. Some symptoms of periodontitis are gum inflammation or bleeding, and loss of appetite. The bacteria can even enter the bloodstream and spread throughout the body, ultimately damaging internal organs. The good news is that it is preventable.
