You’ve had a tough day at work, you turn the key and a mob of overjoyed, energetic and panting dogs rushes you. Such a greeting! Like they’ve been desperately waiting all day for you to walk through the door, but wait…what is that smell?! Yep, it’s your dog’s breath.
Many of us don’t realize that proper dental care is extremely important for your pet. Sure, you’ve gotten the appropriate vaccines, you do year-round heart worm and flea/tick prevention. You’re set, right? That happy dog with the stinky breath is your answer.
Be sure to brush your pup’s teeth daily and take him in for a dental check-up at least once yearly. As a dog owner you know that your furry friend can get into all sorts of mischief. We have removed dead teeth, bones, slivers from sticks and all manner of debris from our canine patient’s mouths.
Sometimes our pets will let us know when something is wrong but other times we won’t ever know until they have a dental exam. Tooth decay and debris can be a significant problem for your pet if not addressed. Poor dental care can lead to other diseases down the road and end up costing you much more money than an annual dental cleaning.
For more information about our dental services, check our our dentistry page. We look forward to working with you to keep your pup’s mouth healthy and clean so when you walk through the door at the end of a long day you’re able to enjoy your pets—odor free!
