The veterinary profession tends to be fairly seasonal. Typically, when the weather gets warmer, we start seeing more patients; when it gets cooler and the kids are going back to school, the patient count tapers off. Not this year.

We’ve already had a crazily busy summer, and we introduced the virtual queue in a effort to make the waits more bearable. Now we’re having our busiest October ever, by a large margin, and there’s not much sign of things slowing down. What we’re experiencing here at Ann Arbor Animal Hospital is being seen at veterinary practices across the country. The question is, why? Why are veterinarians so busy?

This video helps to explain some of what’s going on.
