Despite it being a rainy Sunday, over 35 people braved the wet weather to enjoy the Coleman’s Corn Maze and all of the activities at our Charity Event. Since the Maze is Pirate themed this year, we decided to have that be our theme as well. Numerous people and their dogs were decked out in pirate costumes. It was quite a sight!
In addition to the Maze, the newly designed Dog Park could be found all day with dogs (and kids) playing together in it and on the hay bales! There was also a designated Obstacle course for dogs using some Dog Agility equipment.
A number of volunteers from POET Animal Rescue, our charity partner, were present with a selection of pets that were available for adoption and one cute kitten left with her new fur-ever family!
Photographer Molly Walters, took pictures of people and their pets. Our photo contest winners were voted on in October and our top 3 winners were: Stella, Aurora & Dora, and Molly.
Refreshments were available at our tent (corn dogs and hot dogs), but the yummiest culinary delight was the homemade donuts made by the Coleman family. For this lover of autumn, including the seasonal food choices, the variety of donuts was wonderful and a cup of apple cider was just what I needed that day.
We ended up with so many items for our Silent Auction that we broke them up into two groups. We had some wonderful items to auction off from IPods to Bed & Breakfast stays, and thanks to the generosity of those who attended, were able to raise over $1000 just on the Silent Auction.
We gave out goodie bags to each of the paid attendees that included dog treats, toys and other useful items and information. We also decided to offer the remaining bags for a donation to clients as they came in to the hospital with their pets. Within a short time we had collected over $200 in donations for goodie bags!
We appreciate all of our clients who purchased bags, gave a donation or attended the event. We also want to thank our corporate sponsors for their generous donations: A-1 Rental, Bank of Ann Arbor, Brighton Cleaning, CEVA Animal Health, Gordon Food Services, Henry Schein Animal Health, Hills Pet Nutrition, Idexx Laboratories, KW Corporation, Merial, Midwest Veterinary Supply, MWI Veterinary Supply, Nestle Purina PetCare Company, Nutramax, P & G Pet Care (Iams), Partridge Enterprises, Penn Veterinary Supply, Pet Ritz Luxury Pet Resort, Pride Source, Royal Canin, Wags to Wiskers, Wolverton Pet Supply, and Zoetis.
Thanks to the generous contributions of all involved we have been able to raise nearly $1600 after expenses for P.O.E.T. Animal Rescue and the Fixed Income Family Fund. A good time was had by all and we are planning to do the event again next year!!
